Langtang Valley is the nearest Himalayan Region from Kathmandu valley, few hours’ drive from Kathmandu will take you to the beautiful Langtang valley to kyanjin Gompa. Trekking in the Langtang Valley combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang with high mountain lakes and the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. The trail is in the most unspoiled national park of Nepal, situated to the north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border and is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. Snow-capped mountains envelop the remote Langtang valley with the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m) taking centre stage. The trek begins in the lower Langtang Valley and takes you through thick forests, lush farmland and traditional villages whose inhabitants are mainly of Tibetan origin. Despite being very close to Kathmandu, the Langtang Region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with idyllic rural landscape. Hence, Langtang region is one of the most popular trekking regions for those wishing a short trek from Kathmandu into the Himalayas influenced by Tibetan lifestyle.
The deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola are covered in thick forests of rhododendron, oak, maple and alder. Many species of wildlife live amongst the forests and we may be lucky can see on the sport some wild bear, Himalayan black bear,langur monkey, ghoral, leopards, musk deer and the endangered Red panda.
